Ara Sarkisian
1902-1969 Born in Istanbul 1902 ,studied sculpture in Istanbul when he was still a young boy near the first professional sculptor of Turkey, Yervant Voskan .
In 1921 went to Rome , then for financial problems left Rome for Vienna ,from where graduated as a master in 1925 .
1926 went to Yerevan and stayed there until his death in 1969. He is the founder of Yerevan fine art academy (1942)and its first director .
In 1958, as the maker of many monuments , he was elected a honorable member of Soviet Union fine arts academy .
