"I was thinking about a personal biography starting at interest in art at age 6 by copying MICKEY MOUSE and bringing it to school and everyone was amazed at my drawing!!
ABOUT UNKNOWN ARTISTS on your website
I studied with an artist at one of the TOP art schools---- I attended in New York- PARSONS SCHOOL OF DESIGN-- painter STEPHEN GREENE- who started out as a figurative artist and evolved into an abstract artist-- I read an article about Stephen Greene in ART & ANTIQUES magazine-- It was very interesting-
Stephen Greene's figurative paintings were FEATURED in a MAJOR ARTICLE in LIFE MAGAZINE-- just like JACKSON POLLACK AND ABSTRACT ARTISTS IN THE 1950's
to make a long story short-- according to an interview when Stephen Greene was 79
he said--- that in the 50 years of painting professionally -- HE COULD ONLY LIVE OFF THE SALE OF HIS PAINTINGS FOR 2 YEARS - amazing after all the PUBLICITY IN LIFE MAGAZINE IN 1950'S .He was a Professor of Art at Princeton Univeristy and will go down in art history as the teacher of ABSTRACT ARTIST - FRANK STELLA..
some of the graduates of PARSONS SCHOOL OF DESIGN were
ADRIAN- TOP HOLLYWOOD FASHION DESIGNER OF 1920''s--1930's
BEA FEITLER-- ART DIRECTOR OF HARPERS BAZAAR fashion magazine, CHANGED THE LOOK OF FASHION MAGAZINES
IN 1960'S
HARRY HURWITZ, now a UNDERGROUND CULT FIGURE-- made the film THE PROJECTIONIST( about CHARLIE CHAPLIN
MY friend TOP New York illustrator GILBERT STONE-- (deceased 20 years ago)
His story would fit in with UNKNOWN artists today-- GIL could not get a NEW YORK ART GALLERY TO REPRESENT
HIM-- BECAUSE HE WAS CONSIDERED AN ILLUSTRATOR and new york galleries did not represent artists who were
considered illustrators-- FASHION ARTIST--ANDY WARHOLa broke that BARRIER with his hand painted paintings of
CAMPBELL SOUP CANS!!! -- in 1960's----
My friend and classmate at PARSONS - GILBERT STONE HAD WON 100 GOLD MEDALS AT THE NEW YORK SOCIETY OF ILLUSTRATORS and had won the TOP FINE ARTS AWARD-- the PRIX de ROME- which gave an artist the opportunity to paint in ROME WITH A FREE STUDIO AND OTHER NEEDS PAID FOR
HIS prix de ROME was renewed for a 2nd year!!
he also was featured in a TOP GRAPHIC ARTS MAGAZINE-- GRAPHIS- 8 PAGE SPREAD!!
TODAY GIL IS FORGOTTEN------------not even included in TOP ILLUSTRATORS --
I started my art career like andy warhol-- as a fashion artist after graduating from PARSONS SCHOOL OF DESIGN-- I became disenchanted with advertising in 1960's when I saw original artwork thrown in the trash can after it appeared in a magazine or newspaper ad-- I went back to school and obtained BFA and MFA degrees from the CALIFORNIA COLLEGE OF ARTS AND CRAFTS , OAKLAND , CALIFORNIA--
then became a PROFESSOR OF ART - TAUGHT , SCULPTURE, PAINTING, DRAWING, COLOR THEORY .
one of the top major fashion artists of the 20 th century at VOGUE magazine was RENE BOUCHE--- I read a biography on a BOUCHE WEB SITE THAT MOST OF BOUCHE'S ORIGINAL ART ARE GONE-- AS was the tradition in advertising in 1950's and 1960's -- most original art was thrown away---
BOUCHE also did some of the great PORTRAITS of the 20th CENTURY
comedian JACK BENNY, LUCY, ED SULLIVAN AND RED SKELTON for CBS!! GONE?
I would mention in my biography that I studied with SCULPTOR FRANK ELISCU--at the HIGH SCHOOL OF INDUSTRIAL ART now called the SCHOOL OF ART & DESIGN, NEW YORK-(BY THE WAY-- the school at present IN DIRE STRAITS-- THE CITY OF NEW YORK is in a financial crunch and want to MERGE THE TOP ART HIGH SCHOOL IN THE COUNTRY WITH A SMALL GRADE school -- destroying this art school in the process
some graduates--
singer TONY BENNETT
FIRST WOMAN ART DIRECTOR TO BE ADMITTED TO THE ALL MALE NEW YORK ART DIRECTORS CLUB!
TOP FASHION ARTIST ANTONIO
TOP HOLLYWOOD WRITERS AND DIRECTORS etc
so these are my thoughts about writing a PERSONAL STORY BIOGRAPHY"
